Modules  (N/A)
Modified By Santa on 6/10/2009 3:54:06 PM

The model that I had in mind would be easy to use for both rifle and pistol setups.

You could change between different stocks and grips, breeches with or without sights, different caliber barrels and bolts,  and different power sources. The trigger group could be just a sear and trigger or fully adjustable. all parts should be interchangeable.

Re: Modules  (N/A)

I've updated the image above to something not as horrifying as the first one.

Re: Modules  (N/A)

I would like suggestions on how to move the power source down in front of the trigger so that the overall height decreases (desirable in a pistol)

Could some kind of angled valve be used?

Re: Modules  (United States)
Since the format shown emulates many match type air pistol forms beginning from the ealry 90's and up, there is no real need to angle the valve, Just use a small dia. striker as they do, and have a sub-chamber fed by the reservoir thru a passage up to it. Avoid the old-fashioned large dia. striker and corresponding large valve ... they simply waste space and cause needlessly high cocking effort.

Re: Modules  (Sweden)

I see, I was still thinking about a large valve!

I would also like to se some kind of straight-pull mechanism on an alternative breech, with a 5-6 shot horizontal magazine, perhaps even a semi automatic variant.

Re: large valve  (United States)
No need for a large valve .... one as small as 6mm dia can flow enough air to deliver 100fpe, everything else being "right". A large valve is old school, carries a lot of needless baggage.

Re: large valve  (Sweden)

Ok, I have adjusted the sketch for a smaller valve. I reccon the valve housing can be made even longer, adjusting the height for the diameter of a buddy bottle.

Re: large valve  (Sweden)

The optional magazine breech I've been thinking about would use a 5-6 shot straight magazine to keep the height down (unlike drum magazines) something like the FWB P56

How it'll be indexed after a shot I have no idea.

Re: large valve  (United States)
Ive owned a couple gun that were like that ... fun, but fussy. There IS a leakage issue, and the mag has to operate with pellets a certain length and dia .... small pellets slide out and jam the works, large ones get scuffed up going in. It can, and has worked in the past, but that design has never really took hold. I'm gonna hold back now, since it seems only two of us weighing in on this ....

Re: large valve  (N/A)

I was thinking about a magazine where the loading probe /bolt pushes it through and into the barrel, not the rotary kind found on the CO2 plinkers. But maybe it's better to start with a single shot breech.
